| Dear Rotarian,
| NFL OFFICIAL WILL ADDRESS DISTRICT CONFERENCE

Paul Roberts DG 2011-12
| Mark your calendar! There are only three months until the District Conference in Searcy – April 27 and 28. Searcy Rotarian Paul Ford and his committee have spent many hours and many meetings preparing the District Conference programs and agenda to mail out to all Rotarians in District 6150. Each year our District welcomes an International President’s Representative who visits our conference and reports back to RI President Kalyan Banerjee on our conference successes. This year our representative is Past District Governor Tom Ashford from District 6740 in Lexington, Kentucky. Tom and his wife Polky live in Harrodsburg, Kentucky, just outside Lexington. Tom has been a Rotarian since 1981 and has extensive experience in leadership roles within Rotary.
Our keynote speaker on Friday night is NFL official Walt Coleman who presents a very entertaining program. The dinner will be catered by Who ‘dats from Bald Knob. The great thing about this dinner is the price is only $20.00 which includes a beer and wine reception and a four course meal. The reception begins at 5:30 Friday evening in the Robbins-Sanford Grand Hall on the historic square in Searcy.
Saturday night’s speaker is U.S. Congressional Representative Tim Griffin. Tim is a fifth generation Arkansan, veteran, attorney, and former small business owner. Tim is an assistant whip for the majority party in the House of Representatives.
District awards will be presented at the conclusion of the Saturday night dinner. The program will conclude at 8:15 p.m. Following the dinner, there will be a Governor’s reception at the Hampton Inn on Race Street.
The registration forms and conference agenda will be mailed within the next two weeks. You may register for the entire conference or for just one event. Look for details in your mailbox and your inbox soon!

Presidents-Elect Training Seminar (PETS)
Before Presidents-Elect attend the Mid-America Presidents-Elect Seminar (MAPETS), they should be meeting with their boards and officers in order to develop club budgets for 2012-2013. Remember, your year as President began on January 1, 2012. MAPETS will again be held at the Holiday Inn City Center on March 16 and 17, 2012. If you did not attend one of the Pre-PETS Seminars, be sure to review any information that Governor-Elect John Carter has provided. MAPETS is a facilitating seminar where you share what Rotary knowledge you have with presidents-elect from other clubs of similar size. Be sure to get your picture taken at MAPETS. There is no charge for the picture. Governor-Elect John Carter will need your picture for the 2012-2013 District Directory. Click here to register for MAPETS.

WORLD UNDERSTANDING MONTH
February is World Understanding Month. February is special in the Rotary calendar because it also includes the anniversary of the first meeting of Rotary held on February 23, 1905. The World Understanding Month is a chance for every club to pause, plan, and promote the Fourth Avenue of Service – Rotary’s continued quest for goodwill, peace, and understanding among all people of the world. Rotarians have always been at the forefront of these individuals who suggest that environmental, business, and public health actions should have a global outlook.
POLIO
Rotary members worldwide are cautiously celebrating a major milestone in the global effort to eradicate the crippling disease of polio: India, until recently an epicenter of the wild poliovirus, has gone a full calendar without recording a new case of polio.
DISTRICT NOMINATING COMMITTEE
The District 6150 Nominating Committee, which consists of the five immediate Past District Governors, convened to interview candidates for Governor for the year 2014-2015. After interviews were conducted, the committee has recommended to Governor Paul Roberts their selection of Tim Bruner who is a Rotarian from Batesville as their choice for Governor for 2014-2015. Congratulations to Tim for this prestigious selection.
