Apply for packaged global grants with
Oikocredit The
application for packaged global grants with Oikocredit International is
available online. Oikocredit, a Netherlands-based organization that
provides financing to microfinance institutions (MFIs) worldwide, is one
of The
Rotary Foundation’s strategic partners under the Future Vision Plan.
Through packaged global grants,
Rotarians
will collaborate with select Oikocredit-affiliated MFIs in India, the
Philippines, and Uruguay. Together, the MFIs and Rotarians will identify
local
barriers to economic development and create targeted training programs
to help borrowers overcome them. Up to four grants of between US$20,000
and
$50,000 each will be awarded annually. These grants, available to Future
Vision pilot districts only, will support the economic and community
development area of focus. Learn more about the grants and
how to apply. Strategic partnership formed with Mercy
Ships The Rotary
Foundation Trustees have reached an agreement with Mercy Ships, a global
charity that uses hospital ships to deliver free, world-class health
care and assistance in capacity building and sustainable development to
developing countries. Through this strategic partnership — the third
formed under the Future Vision Plan — the Foundation will offer
packaged global grants for Rotary clubs and districts to assemble
vocational training teams of medical professionals who will perform or
assist in
life-changing surgeries. Rotarian volunteers will also work to enhance
the skills of local health care professionals. Details of these grants
will be
announced as soon as the application becomes available online. Read
more. Qualification tip A written financial management plan helps Rotarians apply policies consistently to grant projects and promotes continuity when
district and club officers change. General requirements are listed in section 4A of the district memorandum of understanding (MOU) and section 3B of the
club MOU; however, the actual financial management plan should
be more detailed and reflect the district’s or club’s individual needs. Case studies are also available for districts and clubs. Qualification clarification The qualification tips in the September
issue of Future Vision News included a statement about the
distribution of district grant funds. The statement was not meant to
imply that
clubs should make donations in order to receive district grant funds,
but rather to indicate that the district may determine its own district
grant
distribution requirements. |
| Transition to Future
Vision Monitoring and evaluation toolkit now
available Future Vision brings a new emphasis on the monitoring and evaluation
of grant activities. A monitoring and evaluation toolkit
is
available to assist Rotarians in applying for global grants. The toolkit
provides practical guidance for setting project goals and creating a
monitoring and evaluation plan. It includes user-friendly information on
data collection, monitoring tools, and definitions and quality control
measurements for the areas of focus. Global grant
