District Governor 2003-4, Sam Chaffin & District 6150 Ambassadorial Scholar Ellie Bradsher
| Ambassadorial Scholarships - The Rotary Foundation's oldest and best-known program is Ambassadorial Scholarships. Since 1947 more than 30,000 men and women from 100 nations have studied abroad under its auspices. Today it is the world's largest privately funded international scholarships program.
District 6150 sponsors one to two scholars each year and only for one full academic year. We give priority to scholarships for graduate level study, and require that all applicants must have completed at least their sophomore level credits. The ambassadorial elements of the scholarship are emphasized over the academic elements. learn more
University Teachers – This program blends two of The Rotary Foundation’s most important emphases: education and volunteer service. During the service period, Rotary District 6150 teachers are expected to be outstanding ambassadors of goodwill to the people of both their host country and our District through informal and formal appearances before Rotary clubs and districts. At the conclusion of the teaching period, grant recipients share their experiences with the people in District 6150 and with the local Rotarians who sponsored their award.
The objectives include building understanding while strengthening higher education in low-income countries, and promoting the exchange of teaching methods and ideas between teachers at grant recipients’ home and host institutions. learn more
Rotary World Peace Scholars – District 6150 is one of the “Pioneer Districts” that helped fund the startup of this unique, world-class program. The Rotary Centers for International Studies in Peace and Conflict Resolution offer individuals committed to peace and cooperation the opportunity to pursue a two-year master’s-level degree in international studies, peace studies, and conflict resolution at one of the seven Rotary Centers.
Our district may nominate one candidate for competition at the worldwide level. learn more
