| Governor's Weekly Briefing |
August 17, 2010
| |
This is the eighth in a series of Weekly Briefings shared with all Rotary Club members in District 6150 as we focus this year on Building Communities and Bridging Continents.
Dear Rotarian,
Official visits are ongoing! I am visiting Batesville on Monday. Each and every one of you have continued to step up to demonstrate the true meaning of being a Rotarian. I continue to be amazed at what a progressive District we have. Each of the clubs that I have visited has recognized opportunities to serve their communities and have developed plans to meet those needs. Congratulations to all of you!
Share Your Club's Activities!
Is your club doing something exciting? Do you have a special project you want to share with the district? Share your excitement, share the information, let the District know what’s happening in your club. It may pay off for your club in a BIG way. We will post your activity in the Weekly Briefing. Email your information to sharonkmccarroll@yahoo.com. Also be sure to post important dates and information on the District and Club Database (DaCdb) calendar. Have you logged onto the DaCdb this week? Stay informed. Log on at www.Rotary6150.org.

RI Convention in New Orleans May 21-25, 2011
Did you know that RI recommends attending at least one Rotary International Convention as one prerequisite for serving as a Rotary Club President?
The 2011 Rotary International Convention will be held in New Orleans May 21-25, 2011! How great is it that the Convention will be held almost in our very own back yard. Make plans now to attend. It will be an experience that you will always remember!

Rotary E-Learning Center
Rotary International has made it easy for us to stay informed. The areas of focus in The Rotary Foundation’s Future Vision Plan are featured in new online modules in the Rotary E-Learning Center (English only). These modules highlight the purpose and goals of each area and provide detailed project examples. Learn more about each area of focus and other Future Vision topics today. Important Tax Information For Your Club
All small nonprofit organizations are required to file tax returns, this includes Rotary Clubs. The IRS is offering a One-time Special Filing Relief Program for us to meet this requirement; deadline is October 15, 2010. Each club should review the attached information to see if your club is at risk of losing your tax-exempt status and take appropriate steps to meet these requirements.

District 6150 Golf Tournament – Ready to Tee Off!
Rotary District 6150 Foundation Golf Tournament set for Monday, September 13, 2010 at Paragould Country Club. Get your teams together! We are looking forward to a record breaking event. Register by Sept 3, 2010. To register and obtain additional information click here.
2010 District Seminars Sign up today to represent your club
Two more District Seminars are scheduled in locations convenient for all District 6150 Rotarians. Each will include sessions on four tracks - The Rotary Foundation, Membership, Vocational Service & Youth Programs. Your Rotary club should send at least four individuals to a session close by so each track will have a representative in attendance. Having more members attend will benefit your club plus your club will receive additional points toward the Club of the Year and Governor's Banner recognition.
The seminar at Jonesboro this past Monday was very well attended. Many thanks to all of you who made that event possible. Photos from the Jonesboro seminar are online!

District 6150 New Members
WELCOME NEW MEMBERS: District 6150 continues to grow. There are several new members being approved by the various Boards throughout the District. Have you invited a prospective member to visit your club? Who do you know that always has great ideas? Call them. Do it now…pick up the phone…make that call. Recruiting new members is a vital part of growing your club. Every Rotary club needs a well-crafted membership development action plan to stay dynamic and effective.
