|
| | | This is the second in a series of Weekly Briefings shared with all Rotary Club members in District 6150 as we focus this year on Building Communities and Bridging Continents.
Dear Rotarian,
A special thank YOU! A big thank you goes to the Rotary Club of Paragould and Installation Committee Members for an outstanding job putting together my induction ceremony for District Governor. Those members are, Jake Bland, Carolyn Hurley Block, Dennis Cooper, Amy Lucius, Melanie Posey, Malissa Reed, Kelly Roswell and Mitchell Smith. Thank you! The ceremony will always hold a special place in my heart.
I would also like to thank PDG's Bob Warner, Greg Marlar and Carl Rosenbaum for helping with my Installation Ceremony. PDG Jake Morse did a wonderful job with the induction of Assistant Governors. PDG Debbie Brinkley, thank you so much for the presentation of the DG Banner! The Rotary Club of Paragould will display it proudly! PDG Paul Broughton so eloquently explained the evolution of the Rotary Wheel. Paul Roberts, DGE did a great job recognizing the Past District Governors, President Elects, and Aides. The District 6150 Crowd was entertained all night with H.T. Moore as Master of Ceremonies. I would especially like to thank Tom Letchworth, my pastor at FUMC for doing the Invocation and praying for our Rotary clubs to be successful this year. Thank you also to all the out of town Rotarians and guests for coming.
I have had a very exciting first week as your governor! Congratulations to each of you for a very successful beginning to the new year. Excitement is everywhere I go! So many plans are being discussed throughout the District for service projects, membership recruitment, and fundraisers. I was honored to induct new officers for Rotary Club of Jonesboro Metro on Tuesday evening. On Thursday, I was honored to present the program for the Rotary Club of Blytheville. We reviewed the video of RI President Ray Klinginsmith discussing why he selected the theme for this year….Building Communities/Bridging Continents. I’m looking forward to starting the Official Visits this week, meeting each of you and getting to know you as we work toward building our own communities and bridging continents.
RI President to visit Little Rock – don’t miss this opportunity
Rotary International President, Ray Klinginsmith, will be the featured speaker at a Celebration Luncheon in Little Rock on Friday, July 23, 2010 for the 2010 South Central Rotary Youth Exchange (SCRYE) Summer Conference. 2010 District Seminars
Four District Seminars are scheduled in locations convenient for all District 6150 Rotarians. Each will include sessions on four tracks - The Rotary Foundation, Membership, Vocational Service & Youth Programs.
Your Rotary club should send at least four individuals to a session close by so each track will have a representative in attendance. Having more members attend will benefit your club plus your club will receive additional points toward the Club of the Year and Governor's Banner recognition.
Register online at www.Rotary6150.org/go/seminars. Choose one of the following dates/locations:
- Monday, August 9, 2010 - Jonesboro
- Monday, August 16, 2010 - Heber Springs
- Monday, August 23, 2010 - Little Rock
- Monday, August 30, 2010 - Forrest City
Congratulations - District 6150 New Members
I would like to take this opportunity to personally welcome new members to Rotary throughout District 6150. Please help me welcome:
