2010 RI Convention
Rotarians from all over the world will be attending the RI Convention in Montréal, Québec, Canada, 20-23 June. The convention is a great way to network with fellow Rotarians and find out what clubs are doing around the globe. Register online through Member Access, or download a registration form.

If you’ll be at the convention, plan on attending some of the breakout sessions offered Monday through Wednesday. The sessions will include “Leading Your Club to Greatness” and “Webinars for Rotary? Yes, You Can!” as well as a two-part workshop for club presidents-elect.

If this is your first RI Convention, consider attending an orientation for first-time attendees on Saturday, 19 June, 09:00-10:00 and 14:00-15:00.
RI Strategic Plan

Did you know that RI has a revised strategic plan? Consider incorporating a discussion about the plan at your upcoming district assembly, and encourage assistant governors to promote it during their club visits.

Social Networking

Rotarians are connecting worldwide on Rotary’s YouTube, LinkedIn, Twitter, and Facebook pages. You can also use these sites to find links to current Rotary news, videos, and discussions from around the world.

More and more training professionals are investigating how social networking sites can provide opportunities for informal learning. For on-the-go people who can learn anywhere, these sites have a lot of potential. Read more about Rotary’s involvement in social networking.

Your Voice, Your Solution

Your Voice, Your SolutionA new club has just formed in the neighboring community, and your assistant governor has asked your club to be the sponsor. Where do you go from here? Addyour solution.

Last month, many of you contributed your solutions to the problem of what to do if you’re worried about your club’s future. Read your colleagues' suggestions.

Rotary International's online problem-solving forum gives Rotarians the opportunity to exchange solutions and ideas. At the end of the month, you and your fellow Rotarians will have generated a collection of best practices that can be used by club presidents for years to come.

Training Tip
lightbulb
To innovate is to introduce something new or make changes in anything established. Innovation is key to ensuring that your club remains strong for years to come. Is it time for your Rotary club to be innovative? Here are a few ideas to get started:
  • Survey all your club’s members to see what they like and don’t like about the club, and what suggestions they have for changes.
  • Ask your club board members to attend at least one other local club meeting this month as a guest and discuss what they observed.
  • Participate in LinkedIn or other social networking forums (see article above) to get ideas from Rotary club members around the world.
