| Owen Lusk joined The Rotary Club of Paragould April 10, 1996. Owen has been a Rotarian for more than 35 years.
When asked about how he became interested in Rotary, he says, "I became interested in Rotary because of the interest Rotarians showed in my community. The overriding impression I saw was the dedication and commitment of men and women in giving of their time, expertise and resources throughout the world and not just where they lived impressed me about Paragould. To experience Rotary’s character opened up my world, inviting me to apply the Ideal of Service in four areas: education, professional life, community life, and international service.
Being a Rotarian implies opportunities for service and the members of Paragould Rotary have embraced me with open arms to which I am most grateful. For me Rotary is a way of Life."
As a Rotarian, Owen has served on the Board of Directors more than eight years, bulletin editor for seven years, perfect attendance for thirteen years, and is a multiple Paul Harris Fellow and Major Donor, past membership development committee and has served on the program committee for eight years. His offices include past vocational service director, club secretary (2002-2003), club vice-president (2003-2004), club president (2004-2005) and District 6150 Assistant Governor Area 2 (2005-2006)and Area 1 (2006-2007 and (2007-2008. His honors include Rotarian of the Year (2000-2001), Distinguished Citizen of the Year (2001-2002), Lifetime Achievement Award (2003-2004), District 6150 Best Club Bulletin (97-98), Club of the Year, (2004-2005) and the Rotary International Presidential Citation 2004-2005 . Governor’s Banner (2004-2005), and the Rotary International Four Avenues of Service Citation (2006). Owen has been a Rotarian in Jackson, Pearl, Columbia and Vicksburg, Mississippi, and Marble Falls, Texas prior to joining the Paragould Club .
Born in Cleveland, Mississippi, Owen attended local schools, went to Mississippi State University and Mississippi College majoring in business.
Owen has been active in the Paragould community for 14 years, having been editor and publisher of The Tribune Newspaper.
His community service includes:

- Mississippi Press Association (past president)
As a newspaper publisher, Owen has received the Golden 50 Service Award and led The Tribune as an Arkansas Press Association award-winning newspaper in both news and advertising for eight years.
After spending more than 50 years in the newspaper field, Owen joined American State Bank’s business development team. Recently the bank merged with BancorpSouth.
Owen is married to the former Lacy Langford of Cleveland, Mississippi, and they have four children and 13 grandchildren. Owen and Lacy will have been married 53 years in June 2010. |
