District Simplifed Grants Update |
| |
Club Presidents and Foundation Chairpersons,
The District Foundation Grant Committee met in December, 2009 to review the District Simplified Grants (DSG) submitted from the various clubs this year. After reviewing the ones received, the committee approved each one. There were some great projects that we were able to fund through the District Simplified Grants. We have decided to extend this opportunity again to the clubs to submit additional grant requests even if your club had previously submitted a request. The deadline to get the DSG in is February 28, 2010. The District still has grant money available to utilize through the District Designated Funds allocated to the District. The DSG application is a very easy and simple process and can be done without the use of a grant writer. The forms and instructions are on District 6150 web page. Just use the search button for "District Simplified Grants" and it will pull up the forms and instructions. There are links on this page to RI website which provides additional information about DSG's.
When all of the grants that have been approved and the final report received, the District will send one report to RI requesting the total funds. The clubs will get their reimbursements at that time. We hope to get this completed and money back to the clubs by April 2010.
This is a great opportunity for clubs to fund projects that will benefit your community. Any project no matter how big or small can be funded through this matching grant. Your club only funds half the cost and the other half is reimbursed with DSG funds. It's a half off sale!!!! With the economical times that we are in, I am sure your club can find a worthwhile project that will showcase Rotary in your community.
District Simplified Grants (DSGs) are a tool for Rotary Districts to support short-term, humanitarian projects that benefit the community. Districts can request up to 20 percent of District Designated Funds (DDF) for a grant to support multiple projects locally or internationally. The link to the RI website provides guidelines on what grants can and cannot be used for. It will help answer any questions you may have.
All District Simplified Grants should be sent to: Gene Wing, District Grants Chairperson; 2600 Cottonwood; Jonesboro, AR 72401; or Fax 870-336-5001;
If you have any questions, please contact Gene Wing at the above address, Cell 870-930-4094, email ejwing@suddenlink.net or ewing@sbrmc.org.
Thanks for your support. |
