CLUB NEWS

HARRISBURG CLUB

The Harrisburg Rotary Club completed the annual membership drive in October.  Four new members have been installed--Tom Mardis, Dianne Stirling, David Mitchell, and Randy Mills.  Several members delivered 80 coats to the Harrisburg Elementary School.  These are new or gently worn coats that have been washed or cleaned.  This is an ongoing project and as other coats are received they will be delivered to the school as well.  The club continues to have interesting and informative programs every week.

MARION CLUB
The Rotary Club of Marion says THANK YOU to Delta Dental Insurance for the toothbrushes and toothpaste they donated for our Healthy Smiles Program.  The kits were given to 380 second grade students of Marion, Earle, and Turrell.  Dr. Jim Johnston led a team that presented the gifts along with an oral hygiene talk and the reading of a story, "Andrew's Loose Tooth".  As always, the children were very receptive to this program and we hope to continue it in the future.

Member Access for Execs

New Member Access privileges for club executive secretaries

Club executive secretaries worldwide now have club secretary-level access privileges in Member Access. Previously, this level of access was provided to select club executive secretaries on a trial basis.

Club presidents and secretaries can assign a club executive secretary via the Update Club Data page in Member Access or by sending an e-mail to the RI Data Services Department at data@rotary.org.

Club executive secretaries who have already been reported to RI will automatically have the new access level when they log in.

Dear Rotarians,

Happy Holidays to all Rotarians in District 6150. What a busy time of the year. How did we get from Halloween to Thanksgiving so fast? Now it is all about Christmas.

The months of November and December are important in our Rotary life as well as in our personal lives. The Foundation and our giving are of utmost importance.

I hope that each of you are participating in the Every Rotarian, Every Year Campaign. $100 for the year is not much if you break it down in small increments. The amount of money that we raise this year will determine the amount of money that will come back to the District in three years. The results of last year's giving have just been announced. Congratulations to the following clubs for helping our District lead our Zone in per capita giving:

The Rotary Club of Maumelle at $560.67
The Rotary Club of North Little Rock Riverside at $222.22
The Rotary Club of Jonesboro University at $180.63

Thank you for your generosity.

In his December message, RI President John Kenny talks about celebrating family during Family Month. "Every club should strive to achieve a balanced interaction between Rotarians and their families -- and the family of Rotary. Only by working together, as a family, can we ensure that the Rotary of today grows into an even stronger Rotary of tomorrow," says Kenny.

What more needs to be said? We are one big family with members worldwide. 1.2 million strong and growing. I have seen many additions to our District family during the past few weeks. Keep up the good recruiting.

"The difference between try and triumph is a little umph."

PEs Survive "Boot Camp"

First-Time Seminar Deemed a Success

District 6150 Governor-elect Owen Lusk hosted the President-Elect Planning Seminar (PEPS) on Saturday, October 17 from 9:00 to Noon in the student center at the Searcy campus of ASU-Beebe.   Seventeen clubs were represented.

The DGE took a risk in having the seminar.  You know-- it had never been done before.  He also challenged the participants in the seminar to take risks.  At the end of the seminar, all were pleased with themselves.

This first-ever seminar for our district was offered because DGE Owen had noticed as a club president and as an assistant governor that most PEs were, as he put it, "behind before they ever started."

"They don't hear until March at PETS (president-elect training seminar) that their job is actually an 18-month job, and it began 3 months earlier in January," Lusk said.  "So we just need to do something to help them before their job actually begins. "

As one participant put it, "I'm so glad I was able to attend.  I really feel like I have a much better handle on what I need to do before PETS next March.  Thanks so much for a great training session!"
