Your Voice, Your Solution

Your Voice, Your SolutionYour club secretary has held the position for five years and wants to resign. No one else has shown any interest in serving in this role. How do you get someone to take on the position? Add  your solution.

Last month, many of you contributed your solutions to the problem of how to archive historical and financial documents electronically. Read your colleagues' suggestions.

Each month, Rotary International's online problem-solving forum gives Rotarians the opportunity to exchange solutions and ideas. Search for "your voice" at www.rotary.org to read best practices for addressing everyday club challenges.
Keep up-to-date

Do you want to become more informed as a trainer? Sign up for the Weekly Update (EN only), and four to five of the latest RI news stories will be e-mailed to you every week. You can use these stories for club or district training sessions, Web sites, and newsletters.
Future Vision Pilot newsletter

Are you in a Future Vision pilot district, or do you just want to learn more about the future of The Rotary Foundation? Anyone can sign up for the Future Vision Pilot News, a monthly electronic newsletter, to get the latest information, including updates on addenda to manuals and leaders' guides.
October is Vocational Service Month

Vocational ServiceEvery October, Rotarians are encouraged to focus on vocational service. Increase the vocational service knowledge of your fellow club members by devoting your first October Rotary club meeting to discussing The Four-Way Test and the Declaration of Rotarians in Businesses and Professions. This special month is a great opportunity to begin planning vocational activities for the entire year, including awards and community projects that raise awareness of Rotarians' commitment to ethics in business.
Training Tip

In August, the leaders' guides for the presidents-elect training seminar, district assembly, and district membership seminar were mailed to your district governor-elect. A leaders' guide is a tool designed to help Rotarians conduct training through facilitated discussion. It contains an agenda, learning objectives, sample questions, slides, and worksheets. When using an RI leaders' guide, consider
  • Customizing the content by inserting local examples
  • Rephrasing the sample questions to ensure they sound natural
  • Planning the timing of activities in advance

If you are facilitating a session for these seminars this year, begin reviewing the session materials now so you can feel comfortable with them and have time to add in local examples.
