District Assembly (aka Club Leadership Retreat)
|
|
In April and May, club presidents-elect and incoming club leadership teams will attend the district assembly. This event helps Rotary club leaders, including secretaries, treasurers, and committee chairs, to develop their leadership skills and to meet the district leadership team who will be supporting their efforts to lead an effective club throughout the year.
Participants are encouraged to read the appropriate manual before the meeting so they arrive prepared to discuss their duties and goals for the coming year. Manuals in the Club Officers' Kit (225) include:
At the assembly, incoming club leadership teams should further develop their annual goals using the Planning Guide for Effective Rotary Clubs. Before the meeting, club secretaries and committee chairs should review discussion questions so they can think about their responses and be ready to participate. Here are links to the discussion questions for each club committee:

| Your Voice, Your Solution |
At the last minute, your club has had to select a treasurer who does not have a financial background. What do you do to help prepare the treasurer? Add Your Solution.
Last month, many of you contributed your solutions to the problem of how to keep weekly programs interesting. Read your colleagues' suggestions.
Rotary International's online problem-solving forum gives Rotarians the opportunity to exchange solutions and ideas. Search for "your voice" at www.rotary.org to read Rotary clubs' best practices for addressing everyday challenges.

| Rotary Images |
Do you ever find yourself looking for inspiring photos of Rotarians and projects to show during training sessions? Well, now you can access a library of high-quality pictures. The Rotary Images database at www.rotary.org allows you to search by category, keyword, project name, and description so you can select from thousands of photos from all over the world.

| Training Tip |
Allow 10 minutes for the following exercise. This activity can be done with a small or large group of participants. You have just found a magic lamp. You rub it, and surprise, a genie appears. The genie grants you three wishes. You are allowed to make three changes to your Rotary club. Think about the changes you would like to make, and write them on a piece of paper. Once you have finished, share your wishes with the person next to you. Think about how you could help make these changes happen.
