DaCdb (Dak-db) BLOG

The DaCdb (DAK-Dee Bee) BLOG is here for Rotarians and club executives in District 6150 to ask questions, share tips and ideas, offer suggestions and generally keep the conversation going on our club and district management software.   DaCdb is another tool we have to support us as we provide SERVICE Above Self.

Here's a tip for using the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) found under the Help button in DaCdb.

Press and hold {Ctrl} + F to activate the "find on this page" function. In Internet Explorer a separate pop up window appears. In Firefox, the search field appears in the bottom status line of the browser. Try it out now!

Seeing Jerrie Townsend's comment reminded me of the importance of recognizing vocational excellence. Jerrie is or has just been president of her profession's state association. I would like to see DaCdb facilitate such recognitions.
Doing an incredible job, Sam. Thanks for all you do above and beyond the call of duty. --jerry

Hi gang! - I've just returned from the first annual DaCdb District Communications Officers' Users Group Meeting in North Carolina. Around 20 DCO's from around the country met Feb. 20-22, '09 with DaCdb owners and developers to learn more about the software and to help shape the future of our club and district software. Over the next few months we're going to see some exciting improvements to the system as a result of the feedback provided to the developers. We'll have many new features that will make our jobs easier and give us even more ways to support our clubs and the district as we provide SERVICE Above Self. Over the next few weeks, I'll share more information, hints and resources.

Yours in Rotary Service,
Sam

I continue to be amazed at the new club and district database that has been set up for us to use. I found some new things today I had not noticed before. Great job! Great tool!

Huge thanks to Sam H. for taking the time to educate us in this new program. I too am very impressed with the capabilites and ease of use of this program. This could make Club Secretary no longer the hardest job in Rotary.

Our second club secretary's DaCdb Webinar was held tonight and the next one will be tomorrow (Wednesday) morning at 10 am. We've had 20 of our 39 clubs represented in our first two sessions. We look forward to reaching out to the rest of our clubs soon with this overview of this new system.

I am very excited about the new data base software. I have used it this week to send Pmail (personalized e-mail) to our club members and to print a club membership list. I was club secretary when we first started using RI-CAS and I have to say this is so much easier to use. I am excited about all the new programs that are available.

I am excited about this new database software. I thought the webinar was very well done. For the inital roll out I don't know how you could shorten it by much. Maybe you could have two types of webinars, one for the primary administrators and the other for club officers or committee chairs that would not need a full overview to get them started. I think I would begin the session by pointing out the availablity of the FAQ section :)

I had not had the time to check out the new database, so this was the first time I had seen anything about it - I am very excited about all it will do! And it looks a little more user friendly than RI-Cas and more designed for the way Rotary clubs work. The webinar was very informative and easy to follow - I feel I can get right on and navigate successfully! Well, Sam, can't let you off that easy - I'm SURE I'll be calling with questions! Look forward to more webinars! But I agree - maybe select individual areas for each webinar to allow for shorter sessions! THANKS!

I thought the webinar was very informative and well conducted. I feel equipped to begin using DaCdb immediately. Before the webinar I spent time browsing the database system myself. There are many tools DaCdb offers that I would not have found on my own without the webinar. I hope all our club officers will take the time to train on this database. I am excited about the addition of the financial arm!

That's a great suggestion. As we plan our next sessions, in which areas should we spend more time? Less time? Was the Q & A time helpful?

Great telephone conference....next time can we limit it to 30 minutes or less?

Our first Webinar on the new District and Club Database system was held today with nearly 20 in attendance. The system was demonstrated and participants had lots of their questions answered. Additional sessions will be scheduled soon so all clubs will have the opportunity to learn more about this system that will replace RI-CAS. Thanks to all who participated in the session.
