Rotary International District 6150

Volume 1, Issue 10

To: Rotary District 6150 Club Presidents 2007-2008
cc: Secretaries, Execs, AGs, Aides, DG, DGE, DGN, PDGs

This is the 10th of a weekly communication entitled "Governor's Weekly Communiqué". It is named in honor of our 2007-2008 Group Study Exchange with France.

This past week we visited The Rotary Clubs of Osceola and Dewitt. Thanks to Presidents Rogers and Jason. Special Thanks to Assistant Governors Owen Lusk and Henry Newby.

Please keep Assistant Governor Owen Lusk and his family in your thoughts upon the loss of his mother last week! Also remember President Bob Johnson of The Rotary Club of Jacksonville as he recovers from surgery.

                      SEPTEMBER IS NEW GENERATIONS MONTH!!

Official Visits continue this week at these Rotary Clubs: Marianna (12 NOON-Monday, September 10), Forrest City(12 NOON-Tuesday, September 11) and Bald Knob (12 NOON-Wednesday, September 12).

Every Rotarian Every Year remains a top goal for us this year.  A majority of our clubs have been able to pledge $100 per Rotarian. I am pleased to report that several of our clubs that initially had pledged less have developed a plan to increase the annual fund goals.

The key component to increasing support of The Rotary Foundation is education. Please try to have several Rotary Programs this year concerning the benefits of supporting the foundation. Programs concerning Polio Plus, Group Study Exchange, Scholarships, Matching Grant Projects and Local Simplified Grants help illustrate the great things we can accomplish through Rotary.

Remember this year each club that reaches $100 per member in annual fund contributions will earn the designation as a Star Club.

The Foundation/Membership/Service/Youth Seminar in Jonesboro last week had 72 attendees. Fourteen clubs were represented. Congratulations to Harrisburg, Jonesboro, Jonesboro-University, Jonesboro-Metro, Marked Tree, Paragould, and Pocahontas for completing their seminar requirements.

Four Clubs completed half of their requirements Thanks to Blytheville, Hughes, Quad Cities, and Trumann for this strong start. Remember there are three more opportunities!!!

HAVE A GREAT WEEK!!

District 6150 Shares useful tips for your club!

Sending signals of Confidence!!

Present yourself as a leader, walk like a leader, dress like a leader, and talk like a leader.

Make an effective entrance. Greet your colleagues warmly. Look them in the eye, smile, and give a warm firm handshake.

Stand straight and walk tall. Your posture speaks volumes about your confidence and abilities.

Enter the room with purpose. Let others know you are glad to be there. Let everyone know they are appreciated and that you are ready to serve them with enthusiasm.

Listen actively and really listen. Lean forward, watch the person who is speaking to you, and repeat important points back to them so they know you understand their message.

Your Rotary Club can reach the highest peak of excellence only if you commit to exceeding your members expectations!!

-adapted from The Seven Minute Difference by Allyson Lewis. Allyson is an accomplished national executive coach, financial advisor and a member of The Rotary Club of Jonesboro.
