Governor's Weekly Communiqué 1.1

This is the 1st of a weekly communication entitled "Governor's Weekly Communiqué". It is named in honor of our 2007-2008 Group Study Exchange with France. You should in most cases receive this on Sunday Evenings. The email is designed to be of the utmost convenience to each of you as you serve your club. You will notice the email is in a plain text and I will make an effort not to add attachments to these weekly communications. Each email will have valuable information useful to you as we work together this year. ASTERISKS *** Items require action on your part.

This email will be sent directly to club presidents and as a courtesy to your secretaries, the Past District Governors, the Assistant Governors, my aides and to the District Committee Chairs. Please feel free to contact me for any help or information you need. Also you and the rest of the district Rotarians will receive a district newsletter around the 15th of each month. Please forward items for the newsletter to Paul Holmes paulholmes@neabusinesstoday.com

Keep in mind that this 1st communiqué is lengthy because there is much to do as our year starts, hopefully future Sunday Communications will be shorter!
July 8, 2008   [July is Rotary Literacy Month]
Governor's Weekly Communiqué
Rotary International District 6150
Volume 1, Issue1

Congratulations to each of you and to your clubs as you start this new Rotary year!! Remember Rotary allows ordinary people to do extraordinary things together!

***The deadline for the Planning Guide for Effective Clubs was July 1, 2007. Please work with your officers, your board and your Assistant Governor to complete this as soon as possible!

***If your club has not sent club officer information to RI (due in March) please send the contact information of your 2007-2008 officers to Darwin Sampedro Darwin.sampedro@rotary.org . This will allow you to open the RI Member Access Area to update your club files online.

***This week your clubs will receive a request to approve the MEDICAL SUPPLY NETWORK as an official district project. Please vote in favor of this project. This project will give every club large or small to participate in a worthy, meaningful, long-term project.

***Membership is the highest priority. Please make every effort to send a representative to President Wilf's Membership Conference in Nashville on July 20-21, 2007 details are on the web http://membership.rizones29-30.com. Every club needs to be represented but,  IF YOUR CLUB HAS LESS THAN 25 MEMBERS OR IF YOU HAVE LOST MEMBERS IN THE LAST 2-3 YEARS PLEASE SEND SOMEONE TO LEARN BETTER MEMBERSHIP PRACTICES!

Please send the name of your club membership chairperson to our district membership chairs Ken Stacks kstacks@ssarch.com  and Debbie Brinkley brink@ipa.net.

***Please make and introduce your plan for meeting your club's Foundation Goal for the year. We want to encourage you to use your film canister kits that you were given at District Assembly-remember if every member gives only one quarter everyday and two quarters each Rotary meeting-your club will reach the $100 per member goal with ease. 25 cents a day is a small amount that will do a great deal to change a life!

Please send the name of your club foundation chair to our Foundation Coordinator Sam Chaffin sam.chaffin@sbcglobal.net.

***The 2007-2008 Club Recognition Plan has been sent to you. Please study this carefully and note that there are ten requirements for the Governor's Banner. NOTE that timely reporting from your club secretary to the district secretary is one of these requirements. Questions about recognition can be directed to your AG. For information regarding reporting requirements contact District Secretary Chuck Allen ccallen938@aol.com.

***I will begin the Official Club Visits on July 18, 2007. Please remember to organize the Official Visit Book Drive PRIOR to our visit to your club. We will be in contact with you by phone the week prior to your club's visit to confirm your plans for the visit.

Please note the District Directory is soon to go to press. Our goal is to have this to you by mid August. In the interim refer to the excel files that will be sent to you. We are placing an online version of the directory on the website in the near future.
