Group Study Exchange

Vocational Team Training - previously called Group Study Exchange (GSE) is one of the programs of the Rotary Foundation which pairs two Rotary Districts in different countries.  Rotarians in each district select, train and exchange teams of non-Rotarians led by a Rotarian Team Leader.  Each team member lives with the families of Rotarians over a period of four to six weeks in the host district.  During the exchange, each team member will have the opportunity to experience the culture of another country as the team tours numerous communities and locals within the receiving Rotary District.  The objective is to provide a cultural and vocational exchange that brings the peoples of two countries and cultures together in friendship and understanding.

Learn more about Group Study Exchange on the RI web site. Team member or Rotarian team leader applicants should thoroughly review this information.

2011 Exchange Team Update - Philippines - Vocational Team Training Exchange focused on Agriculture

WHAT: Interviews for Team Leader and Team Members for Vocational Exchange Trip to the Philippines

WHERE: Harding University, Searcy, AR – Bison Room, American Heritage Center

WHEN: Team Leader – Friday, October 29, 6:00 p.m.
           Team Members – Friday, November 5, 6:00 p.m.

Rotary District 6150 will be sending a Vocational Studies Exchange team to the Philippines in February of 2011 as part of a Future Visions Grant that will also see a team from the Philippines visiting us.  The outgoing team from District 6150 will be in the Philippines from mid-February 2011 until mid-March 2011.

Much like the GSE teams of the past; there will be one team leader (a Rotarian) and four team members (non-Rotarians).  The emphasis and focus of this trip will be Agriculture – with a special interest in the organic and hydroponic growing of crops - and will provide and exciting opportunity for five Arkansas to visit fellow Rotarians in the Philippines and share and learn with them and from them.

Interviews for Team Leader will be held on Saturday, October 9, at 8:30 a.m. and interviews for Team Members will be held on Saturday, October 16, also at 8:30 a.m.  Both sets of interviews will be held on the campus of Harding University in Searcy.

Please assist us in locating applicants for these positions and encouraging them to apply.  Your help is needed.  Please make this announcement at your meetings and help recruit individuals in the farming business, agriculture departments of educational institutions, or any related areas. Past Exchanges:

Italy / Albania - 2009-10 - Districts 2090 - 6150

Non-Rotarian women and men between the ages of 25 and 40!  This Rotary year our exchange will be with district 2090. This district is quite interesting as it is covering 2 countries with a different language, culture, history and religion.

Abruzzo, Marche, Molise and Umbria are located in the central part of Italy. Albania is located across the Adriatic.

The Apennines are on the west and the Adriatic on the east of the Italian regions. Abruzzo has been developing rapidly especially in mechanical engineering, transportation and telecommunications. Urbino, a world heritage site, is located in Marche. Food industry and tourist industry are important in Molise and Umbria. Greeks, Romans, Serbians, Venetians and Ottomans swept through Albania leaving their cultural marks as well as their ruins.

The outgoing team will be going to district 2090 from mid-May till mid-June, 2010. The incoming team will be here from mid-April till mid-May, 2010. Please click on this link to the RI webpage for specific information on the requirements for team members and team leaders. It also gives you information on what costs and expense are provided by Rotary.

Hello 6150 Rotarians,
I am the Ambassadorial Scholar sent from this district to Varanasi, U.P. I've been in India for almost six months now, and would love the chance to see some folks from home. If someone on the GSE team could contact me (email: mcwilliams.laura@gmail.com), I would be able to come to Hyderabad for a few days. Or, if your team is planning a trip north to Varanasi, do let me know. Hope to see you soon.
Regards,
Laura McWilliams

Hi Francine,
I am a member of club 99 (joined in March 08) and heard you speak recently at the presentation of the France delegation. I was asked to serve on the GSE committee. I lived in Bangalore, India (Karnataka) from 1999 to 2002, and would be interesteed in discussing traveling to India in Jan. 2009. Thank you.
Rusty
