In this issue:
Mid-America PETS Big Success by Marilyn M. Hummelstein District Governor 2005-06

Our district’s second multi-district PETS – Mid-America PETS was held March 17-18 at the Peabody Hotel in Little Rock.
Over 180 Rotary club Presidents-Elect from four districts (6110, 6150, 6170 & 6190) heard from Rotary International leaders from across the country. Your club’s President-Elect will make a full report to your club in the near future about this motivational and inspiring annual event.
Special thanks to the Rotary Club of Little Rock (Club 99) for their contributions of a copy of Frank Devlyn’s new book, Frank Talk II, and their sponsorship of the Quapaw String Quartet which is part of the Arkansas Symphony Orchestra, that provided entertainment during the Friday evening banquet.
Welcome Home GSE Team
I hope you followed our outstanding GSE team during their four weeks in District 1030 in northeast England. DG Ian Walker, District 1030, sent wonderful reports about how well our team and their leader, Jim Conner of Club 99, represented us. From what we’ve heard from the team members; Lisa Bilello, Amy Higgins, Denise Poindexter & Aimee Spencer, they’ve come home with new appreciation for Rotary and its internationality. Don’t miss hearing about their experiences first hand at the District Conference, May 5 & 6 in Jonesboro.

District Assembly – April 8 PDG Diana Holmes, District 6150 Training Committee Co-Chair
Attention all Rotary club leaders: District Assembly will be at ASU-Beebe on Saturday, April 8, from 8:15 a.m. until 3:30 p.m., with lunch included. There are no fees, but please register online ( www.Rotary6150.org ). The agenda and directions to the meeting are available on the District web site.
District Assembly provides club leaders with appropriate instruction for the tasks they will assume. The annual district assembly is the major leadership training event in each Rotary district of the world.
The district assembly offers motivation, inspiration, Rotary information and new ideas for club officers, directors and key committee chairmen of each club. Some of the most experienced district leaders conduct informative discussions on all phases of Rotary administration and service projects. The assembly gives all participants valuable new ideas to make their club more effective and interesting. All Rotarians are invited to participate.
Another important feature of a district assembly is a review of the program theme and emphasis of the new RI president for the coming year by District Governor Elect, Judy Sims. District goals and objectives are also described and plans are developed for their implementation. PDG Jake Morse will explain the features of the new Club Leadership Plan.
The success of each Rotary club is frequently determined by the club's full representation and participation in the annual district assembly. Plan to spend April 8th in Beebe with your fellow Rotarian leaders from across Rotary District 6150.

Make in Impact: Sponsor a Rotaract Club By Carol Langston, District 6150 Rotaract Chair
Is your club looking for a way to involve and inspire young professionals in your community? If so, why not sponsor a Rotaract club at your local college or university?
Rotaract is a Rotary-sponsored service club for young men and women ages 18 to 30. Rotaract clubs are usually community-based or college/university-based and are sponsored by a local Rotary club making them true "partners in service" and key members of the Rotary family.
Through the Rotaract program, young adults not only augment their knowledge and skills, but they also address the physical and social needs of their communities while promoting international understanding and peace through a framework of friendship and service.
All Rotaract efforts begin at the local grassroots level and all Rotaract clubs have access to the many resources of Rotary International and The Rotary Foundation.
As one of the most significant and fastest-growing programs of Rotary service, with more than 7,600 Rotaract clubs in some 158 countries, Rotaract has become a worldwide phenomenon.
Rotaractors also often spearhead the formation of Interact clubs and participate in Rotary Youth Leadership Awards. Rotaractors also can go on to become Ambassadorial Scholars or Group Study Exchange members.
As 2005-06 Co-chair of the District 6150 Rotaract Committee, I invite all Rotarians at the club and district level to help support Rotaract. Our goal is to establish at least one new Rotaract club in District 6150 this year. Will your club step up to the plate to help us reach this goal?
Please do not hesitate to contact me if I can provide you with additional information on forming a Rotaract club. Also, I will be happy to speak to your organization about this wonderful opportunity.
Rotary will be a stronger and better organization if we can build a better bond between Rotary and Rotaract. The future is in your hands.
Carol Langston (501) 812-2211 clangston@pulaskitech.edu.

Delta Area Health Center by David Henderson, Assistant Governor 2005-2006, Rotary Club of Helena
The Helena-West Helena Rotary Club is sponsoring a room in the new Delta Area Health Center which is being built in Helena-West Helena by the Helena Health Foundation for Delta AHEC, a wellness center, is to be named for Dr. Vasu Vasudevan, a well known and beloved Rotarian.
The room that we have chosen is an octagon shaped room that reminds us of the Rotary Wheel. The room is in the center of the building, is part of the library and is the most visible area when one enters the building. On the wall outside the room on the left side of the door will be a plaque with the Rotary Wheel designating this room as the Rotary Room sponsored by the Helena-West Helena Rotary Club.
Inside the room will be nicely framed and matted pictures placed in strategic locations depicting the good works that Rotary does in the area of health around the world: children drinking from a well provided by Rotary in India; PDG Jake Morse and June administering polio vaccine to a child; the wheel chair project; PDG Sam Chaffin and Charley Cole on one of their mission trips, feeding the children in Romania; disaster relief at home and around the world; and others not yet decided upon.
The dedication ceremony is April 19, 2006, with tours of the facility beginning at 3 P.M. the actual dedication at 5 P.M., and a reception to follow.
The Helena-West Helena Club is proud to be a part of a project that simultaneously honors Dr. Vasu and offers huge improvements for our community. It also shows what Rotary does worldwide to persons unfamiliar with the club.
Helena-West Helena Rotary is a small part of a global effort. We all have an important part to play in bettering the lives of others.

What Paul Harris Said – March 18, 2006
“I have never spent a busier 5 days than those in Copenhagen. They were full of incidents from morning until night save for my usual rest period in the afternoon, whenever rest was practicable.”
Paul Harris Peregrinations (unpublished) 1932
Traveling from Sweden, Paul had to take both the ferry-boat and then train in order to reach the Danish capital over 60 years ago. In June, thousands of Rotarians from all over the world will make a similar journey when we meet up for the historic Malmo-Copenhagen Convention – as recommended by the founder of Rotary!

When you are the Malmo-Copenhagen Convention of 2006, please visit our Rotary Global History Fellowship booth number H-010 in the House of Friendship. We very much would like to meet you in person.
