Youth Exchange Committee Structure |

The district’s youth exchange program has grown significantly over the past several years. Therefore, the district is seeking to expand its Youth Exchange committee currently staffed by Don Peters of the Rotary Club of Sherwood and Donn Mixon of the Rotary Club of Jonesboro University. Some of the positions currently available and a brief description of the responsibilities for each are:
- Vice or Co-chair
- Jointly manage district program with chair
- Long-Term Inbound Director/Committee
- Placement of long-term inbound students with local clubs
- Welcome letter from district
- Inbound orientation
- Optional trips, i.e., December ski trip, summer tours
- Tulsa meeting in February
- District events, e.g., PETS, District Assembly, District Conference, RYLA, etc.
- Rebound orientation
- Long-Term Outbound Director/Committee
- Recruitment of long-term outbound students
- District Outbound interviews
- Placement with host districts
- Outbound orientation, including Outbound Camp
- Resources, e.g., Rotary blazer, business cards, pins, etc.
- Short Term Exchange Director/Committee
- Manage inbound/outbound short-term program
- Recruitment
- District Outbound interviews
- Placement with host districts
- Outbound orientation
- Placement of one-way short-term inbound students with local clubs
- Treasurer
- Manage youth exchange funds
- Flat fee system for long-term outbound students
- District line item budget for youth exchange activities
- Insurance Director
- Ensure adequate insurance coverage of all inbounds/outbounds
- Long-term
- Short-term
- Travel Director
- Make travel arrangements for long-term outbounds
- Communications Director
- Manage all communications
- Students/parents, local Rotary clubs, and District Committee
- Public relations
- District website
- Calendar of district youth exchange events
Training is available for each of the above positions. To ensure continuity between Rotary years, a three year commitment of service is desired. Previous experience is not a requirement, only the desire to offer a life-changing experience to youth in District 6150. |
