| District Governor Bob Warner, Jr. is a practicing surgeon from Jonesboro, Arkansas. He received his BA in 1979 and his MD in 1983 both from The University of Mississippi. His surgical education was completed at The Medical University of South Carolina and his cardio-thoracic surgical training was completed at The University of Mississippi Medical Center. He grew up in Bay St. Louis and Waveland on the Mississippi Gulf Coast where he attended St. Stanislaus High School.
Bob has been a member of The Rotary Club of Jonesboro since 1993 and served as President in 2002-2003. He has held numerous club positions including Director, GSE chair, Rotary Information chair, Family of Rotary Co-chair, Sportshow Corporate Gifts Chair and Vice-president. He has served on numerous committees. He was presented the club’s “Four Way Test” Award in 2004 and the Excellence Award for Leadership and Dedication in 2005. He was presented with The James F. Gramling Service Above Self Award in 2007 by The Rotary Club of Jonesboro.
In 2002-2003 Bob was awarded District 6150 President of the Year. In the district he worked at RYLA in 1994 and 2006, and has been on the GSE committee and served as chair in 2003-2004, has been an Assistant Governor and District Events Coordinator in 2004-2005, and he served as an assistant trainer at Mid-America Pets in 2005 and Operations Chair in 2006. He is a member of the Multi-District PETS Alliance. He co-chaired the Rotary Foundation District Golf Tournament Corporate Gifts Committee in 2005 and 2006 and chaired the District RI to Evanston visit in 2006. He has served on several other district committees. In 2006 Bob served on the zone North American Rotary Disaster Workshop Committee in New Orleans. He co-chairs the multi-district Hurricane Katrina Bay St. Louis Long Term Relief Project.
He has served on several boards including Ole Miss Alumni, NEA Ole Miss Club (president), ASU Museum, Center for Southern Culture, Jonesboro Chamber Commerce, Arkansas Crime Lab, St. Anthony Club of MS(president), SHARP PHO, Healthcare Medical Group and Jonesboro Surgical Associates. He has been on the staff at St. Bernard’s Medical Center for 17 years.
Bob is a Thoracic/Vascular surgeon and partner at Jonesboro Surgical Associates. He is board certified and a Fellow of The American College of Surgeons. He is a member of The American Medical Association, The Arkansas Medical Association, The Arkansas Foundation for Medical Care, and numerous other societies. He serves on several hospital committees and has been practicing medicine for 24 years. He has authored several scientific publications.
Bob was selected as the Fraternity Advisor of the Year 2007 at Ole Miss. Bob was honored by physicians and staff at St. Bernards Medical Center as the recipient of the 2006 “Living the Mission Award” for providing Christ-like healing and service to others. He received the Arkansas Heart Association’s Volunteer of the Year Award in 1997. Mary Ellen, a registered nurse, and Bob have had a volunteer clinical practice at The Jonesboro Church Health center since its beginning in 1991. They are members of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Jonesboro.
Bob has been married to the former Mary Ellen Bebin for 17 years. Both are Paul Harris Fellows. They enjoy attending Rotary International Conventions, college football (Ole miss Rebel Fans), travel, pets, gardening, and dining out. Bob is an enthusiastic duck hunter.
